Pedestrian Hit by Driver In Front of Children’s Hospital
At around midnight on July 28, a driver hit a pedestrian at the corner of 44th and Penn Avenue, in front of Children’s Hospital. The adult pedestrian was taken to another hospital in critical condition. The driver stayed at the scene, cooperated with police, and is not currently being charged.
Bike Demonstration Leads Pittsburgh Police to Prove Protestors’ Point
On February 16, a bike rider was hit by a driver as they tried to navigate between the Penn Avenue cycle track and the Smallman Street bike lanes. This crash has reignited a discussion among activists to extend the Penn Avenue cycle track to Lawrenceville. They organized a demonstration at the crash site on February 28. While media organizations were notified, the police and the City were not.
Extend the Penn Avenue Cycle Track
On February 16, a bike rider came to the end of the 16th Street cycle track and started on the roundabout route to the Smallman Street bike lanes. They turned right onto 16th Street and were turning onto Spring Way when they were hit by the driver of an SUV. They were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
